An inclusive community is one where everyone feels they belong and can fully participate in community life. Accessibility benefits all of us. I am committed to continuing to identify and remove barriers, improve accessibility, and ensure Coquitlam is a welcoming city where everyone can access programs, services, public spaces, and opportunities to participate in civic life.

• Continue implementing Coquitlam’s Accessibility and Inclusion Plan to reduce barriers and make City facilities, programs, services, and information more accessible and welcoming.

• Support the construction of new City facilities that meet Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification standards – such as the renewed Mundy Park Pool and Town Centre Park Community Centre.

• Support plain language Council agendas, reports, and public engagement opportunities, along with barrier-free voting and civic participation

• Ensure residents continue to have meaningful opportunities to provide input through the City’s Accessibility & Inclusion Committee and other engagement opportunities, and use that feedback to improve City programs, services, and facilities

• Continue making festivals, events, parks, and public spaces welcoming and accessible to residents of all ages and abilities.

• Champion practical accessibility improvements throughout the city, such as accessible playgrounds and park amenities, wheelchair-friendly picnic tables, and projects like the baffle gate removal project currently underway
