Protecting and enhancing Coquitlam’s natural environment is one of the best investments we can make in our community’s future. Our parks, forests, streams, and green spaces improve our quality of life, and contribute so much to making Coquitlam a wonderful place to live. I will continue supporting practical, measurable actions that protect our environment, respond to climate change, and strengthen our community’s long-term resilience.

• Continue implementing Coquitlam’s Environmental Sustainability Plan and Climate Action Plan through practical, measurable actions.

• Advance Coquitlam’s Urban Forest Management Strategy, planting thousands of resilient trees each year while protecting mature trees wherever possible.

• Expand community gardens, pollinator-friendly spaces, and biodiversity initiatives, while continuing efforts to reduce invasive species.

• Support community programs such as Adopt-a-Tree that encourage environmental stewardship and resident involvement.

• Expand public electric vehicle charging infrastructure and support the transition to cleaner transportation.

• Support the construction of energy-efficient, low-carbon civic facilities.

• Protect our valued parks, green spaces, streams, and environmentally sensitive areas for future generations. I was pleased to support the recent expansion of Minnekhada Regional Park by 154 acres, increasing the park by more than 25% and permanently protecting this important natural area.

• Continue advancing zero-waste initiatives, including encouraging the relocation and reuse of homes whenever feasible to reduce demolition waste, while supporting programs that promote reuse and waste reduction.
